Sheldon ISD joins school districts throughout the state in extending closure until Monday, May 4

Sheldon ISD will join other school districts throughout the state in remaining closed until at least Monday, May 4, as part of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s extended executive order he signed this afternoon in an effort to continue to limit the spread of the cornovirus (COVID-19).
Please know that throughout the course of our closing, curbside meal pickups will still be offered each weekday, remote learning will continue to take place on the school’s website, and school auxiliary staff will continue to thoroughly disinfect our campuses and facilities.
Last week, members of the Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees also voted to postpone the district’s May 2 bond election until November 2020.
Again, Sheldon ISD schools will remain closed until at least Monday, May 4. For the most up-to-date information, please continue to follow us on our district website at www.sheldonisd.com as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Sheldon ISD se unirá a otros distritos escolares en todo el estado para permanecer cerrado hasta por lo menos el lunes 4 de mayo, como parte de la orden ejecutiva extendida del gobernador de Texas Greg Abbott que firmó esta tarde en un esfuerzo por continuar limitando el cornovirus (COVID- 19)

Sheldon ISD to receive $100K Summer Career & Technical Education Grant

Sheldon ISD received notification from the Texas Education Agency t the district has been preliminarily selected as a recipient of the Summer Career and Technical Education (CTE) Grant in the amount of $100,000. 

These funds will be used to support the CTE and Work-Based Learning (WBL) summer program by covering supplemental teacher pay, instructional materials, equipment, and work-based learning opportunities.

NOTICE - NEW TIMEFRAMES: District to offer both breakfast and lunch distributions to once per weekday beginning March 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Dear Sheldon ISD Community,
Due to the county’s recent “stay-home-work” safe order that went into effect on Tuesday, Sheldon ISD administrators have decided to err on the side of caution and consolidate both its breakfast and lunch distributions to once per weekday. Therefore, in a continuing effort to keep our students, staff and parents as safe as possible, beginning Thursday (March 26), both breakfast and lunches may be picked up Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for children ages 1-18 at the same five campus locations: Carroll Elementary, Royalwood Elementary, Sheldon Elementary, Null Middle School, and C. E. King Middle School.
Again, children ages 1-18 may pick up both breakfast and lunches each weekday at the following new timeframe: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Thank you for your patience during these uncertain times. We have experienced district network issues that have slowed down the rollout of our remote learning plan; however, we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to provide online learning for our students as early as Monday, March 23rd.

Important information about coronavirus

Sheldon ISD is taking precautions to limit the effect of any future outbreaks of viruses such as flu or the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). District administration is in weekly contact with the State of Texas State Operations Center and other local health agencies to stay up to date of any developments that may impact our region.

Currently, Sheldon ISD is directing campus custodial staff to increase the disinfecting of surfaces and doorknobs. We are also wiping down the seats on buses on a scheduled basis. School nurses will continue to work with campus staff to inform and monitor the use of standard precautions such as handwashing. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
