COUNSELOR

Counselor’s Corner

Hello SECA Jaguars: students, parents, teachers! I am excited to welcome you to another school year!

My name is Norma Martinez. I graduated from UHCL with a Bachelors in Bilingual Education and following that, received my Masters in School Counseling from UHCL. I have worked in elementary, middle school, and high school as a LEP clerk, substitute teacher, reading lab teacher, bilingual teacher and elementary & secondary school counselor.

I come from a devoted family consisting of a loving husband, a seventeen year old son, a fifteen year old daughter, and a four year old daughter. Family is very important to me, as well as building up our community. I love to learn and experience new things, especially about other cultures.  For this reason, I visit many local restaurants and learn about cultures through food. One of my favorite stores is World Market because they have a variety of treats and handicrafts from around the world. Other hobbies include teaching Sunday School at my church, reading, going to the library, and camping at state parks!

As a school counselor and advocate, I provide support to our students in their academics and social and emotional learning . I believe it is important to provide support in all areas to assist our students in becoming productive and resilient students out in the community. Education is important and I am here to help our students thrive academically!
